A New Normal for Christmas

One makes accommodations when living with a raccoon, even during the holidays. The usual Christmas traditions — a live tree, lights, presents, and an open fire in the hearth — are ingredients for disaster when Rodney is around.

Bath Day

Raccoons love the water. They have a propensity for putting everything in it. From squeaky toys to remote controls for the television, Rodney was born to dunk. His love for water, however, does not extend to bath time.

What do Raccoons eat?

Raccoons in the wild are scavengers. Everyone has suffered through the dilemma of “trash pandas” and how to keep them from turning over bins. I had the same problem but inside my house. We finally put an end to the Olympic sport of garbage tipping when we put a bungee cord around our garbage can.

Meet Rodney

Life as a wildlife rehabber is both rewarding and heartbreaking. We live, love, and devote ourselves to the animals we rescue. Our successes drive us on to help more, and our losses make us swear we will never take on another animal as long as we live.
